An Overview On A Beginners Guide to Buying Contact Lenses

What are contact lenses?

Contact lenses are thinly curved lenses that get placed on the tear film that envelopes the eye’s surface. The lenses are naturally transparent but are often colored to make them more comfortable for the wearer to operate. Today’s contact lenses are either hard or soft. Most people today have the latter shape. It was not long ago that contact lenses were even glass-blown.

Types of contact lense

  • Soft contact lense

Soft contact lenses get made of soft, flexible plastic that allows oxygen to part through the cornea. These contact lenses may be more manageable and more comfortable to wear than rigid gas permeable lenses. The new soft lens material contains silicone hydrogel to add oxygen to the eyes while wearing the lens.

  • Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Contact Lenses

Rigid gas permeable contact lenses (RGPs) are more durable, more resistant to debris, and generally deliver more precise, clearer vision. They last longer than soft contact lenses and tend to be cheaper over the life of the lens. They are easy to manage and less likely to tear. However, it’s not as comfortable as soft contact lenses in the first place, and while soft contact lenses can take days, RGP can take weeks.

  • Extended Wear Contact Lenses

Long-wearing contact lenses can get used for long-term wear for one night or 1-6 nights or up to 30 days. Contact lenses that are worn for long periods are usually soft. They get made of flexible plastic that allows oxygen to depart through the cornea. Also, few rigid gas permeable lenses get developed and endorsed for overnight wear. The length of time you wear it continuously depends on the lens type and your tolerance rating for overnight wear by your ophthalmologist. It is essential to rest your eyes without a lens for at least one night after each scheduled removal.

  • Disposable (Replacement Schedule) Contact Lenses

The plurality of soft contact lens wearers has regular replacement schedules. An unpretentious disposable daily plan uses a new pair of lenses every day.

Some soft contact lenses are guided by contact lens vendors as “disposable lenses” but are intended for frequent or regular replacement. In the case of a lens to be worn for a prolonged period, the lens can get continuously worn for a predetermined period (for example, 7 to 30 days) and then discarded. When removing the lens, clean and disinfect the lens properly before replacing it.

Benefits of wearing contact lenses

  • Viewing gets enhanced

Most contact lenses get designed to rectify refractive errors such as astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia. There are also special lenses that have been specially developed for special requirements.

  • Better eye comfort

Thanks to the latest technology, contact lenses made of various materials that help maintain eye health and comfort are now available. Its center is durable to hold your view sharp, but its soft lens edges reduce visual discomfort.

Contact lenses are placed directly on the cornea, limiting visual access in and around the center. You can feel normal when you wear contact lenses. You can buy blue contacts prescription non-prescription.
